Avalanches

Every night and day, we see and hear avalanches all around us. We need to be prepared at all times and vigilant however there is also common sense that goes along with this.

We have set up our Everest Base Camp in-between a valley and the Khumba Ice Fields. You can hear the snow crashing down and the white powder bubbling up but overall we feel safe.

When we start climbing through the ice fields, we will be leaving around 1am in the morning hoping the ice will be frozen vs coming down in the afternoon when things warm up. We try to put ourselves in the best position to make it up the mountain safely and hopefully, this year will be no different.
